OUR MISSION
The Crypto Risk Office (CRO) aims to build the leading Crypto Risk Professionals Community for Crypto Risk Management related content and conversation for Crypto Asset Markets.
Together we will develop and share understanding of risks in the crypto asset markets to help the community deliver on the promise of Crypto and Blockchain / Distributed Ledger technologies.
THE MASTER PLAN
The industry has amazing promise and potential, but there is clearly an enormous amount of work to do on Crypto Risk Management.
The Crypto Risk Office has been established to bring a magnifying glass to risks in the industry, including good & bad practices.
The content is contributed by the Crypto Risk Professionals Community with the aim of developing a stronger and better Risk Management culture and practices in the industry.
We aim to serve the community of Crypto Risk managers, CEO’s, CFO’s, VC’s / Investors. Also, helping traditional Finance professionals develop an appreciation of Risks in the Crypto Asset Markets and Risk Practices that can be applied to mitigate those risks!
WHY CRYPTO RISK OFFICE?
LONG STORY SHORT...
2022 has been a watershed year for the Crypto Asset Markets, by anyone’s standards. The market has lost in excess of $2Trillion of market capital / valuations and basic Financial Risk Management failures have led to Tens of Billions of dollars lost on counterparty exposures across dozens of firms including Alameda, FTX, BlockFi, Genesis, 3ArrowsCapital, Coinflex, Celsius, Voyager Digital plus of course the catastrophic failed tokenomics / mechanics of the Terra-Luna network, and the associated Anchor DeFi protocol losing in excess of $50Bn in value.
Additionally, it is reported around $3Bn worth of Crypto has been stolen so far through crypto technical hacks or exploits.
Worse still, is the loss suffered to the industry's reputation as a whole, which will likely scar the industry for years to come.
The industry has largely neglected to take onboard the deep and broad risk management experience that exists in the traditional financial markets. We aim to encourage the implementation of professional Risk Governance Frameworks across the industry and to develop the first Crypto Risk Professionals Community !
